How to get your At-Home COVID-19 Test for Free

Beginning January 3, 2022, Community First Medicaid and CHIP Members can purchase over-the-counter (at-home) COVID-19 tests authorized by the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at no cost. Members should get their at-home COVID-19 test kits at a Community First network pharmacy counter to ensure that the kits are processed properly and that Members have no out-of-pocket costs at the point of sale.

If you purchase an over-the-counter COVID-19 test from a pharmacy, store, or online and are charged for your test, you can request reimbursement by contacting Community First Member Services at (210) 227-2347. You will be required to submit a copy of your receipt.

COVID-19 test kits will be covered at a reimbursement rate set by HHSC, with a limit of FOUR tests per covered Member every 30 days.
