Take action in order to keep your Medicaid/CHIP benefits. Get ready to renew now.

IMPORTANT:  Continuous Medicaid coverage ended on March 31, 2023. Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will reach out to you when it’s time to renew your coverage. It is important for you to respond to any renewals or information requests from HHSC to ensure you keep your coverage if you are still eligible.

If you receive Medicaid (STAR, STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS) or CHIP health care benefits, you must renew your coverage every 12 months.

YourTexasBenefits.com is a website for people in Texas who have applied for or get Medicaid or CHIP health care benefits.

log in to your account

Log in to Your Texas Benefits account or create one if you don’t have one. After you log in, make sure HHSC has your current mailing address, phone number, and email, and sign up for electronic notices.

Renew Your Coverage

HHSC will tell you when it’s time to renew. Complete and submit your renewal form or give HHSC any information they are requesting as soon as possible. If you need help renewing or have questions, we are happy to help.

Check Your Mail!

HHSC may need more information from you to make sure you/your child is still eligible for Medicaid/CHIP.
Look for a yellow envelope in the mail marked “ACTION REQUIRED” in red ink. 

    1. Respond to all requests for information from HHSC right away.
    2. Complete forms and return them to HHSC in the prepaid envelope provided.
    3. If you signed up for electronic notices, look for alerts via text or email and complete all required forms online at YourTexasBenefits.com.

If you don’t take the action needed by the date provided by HHSC, your benefits may end.

No longer eligible?

If you’re no longer eligible for Medicaid/CHIP, there are other options for health care coverage. You may be able to enroll in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace® and get help paying for it.
