Get ready to renew now.IMPORTANT: During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), Medicaid/CHIP coverage was continuously renewed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Beginning April 1, 2023, HHSC is planning to end Medicaid coverage for recipients who are no longer eligible but continued to be covered due to the PHE. Please review this page for steps you can take NOW to ensure you keep your coverage.

If you receive Medicaid (STAR, STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS) or CHIP health care benefits, you must renew your coverage every 12 months.
The easiest way to renew is online at YourTexasBenefits.com.
Here are some things you can do to prepare for the renewal process.

YourTexasBenefits.com is a website for people in Texas who have applied for or get Medicaid or CHIP health care benefits.

log in to your account
Log in to Your Texas Benefits account or create one if you have not done so already. After you log in, make sure HHSC has your current mailing address, phone number, and email.

Renew Your Coverage
When it’s time to renew, complete and submit your renewal form as soon as possible. If you need help renewing or have questions about the form, we are happy to help.
Check Your Mail!
Look for a yellow envelope from Texas Health and Human Services marked “ACTION REQUIRED” in red ink.
If you signed up for electronic notices, you will receive an email and/or text. If more information is asked from you, you may need to:

- Send in requests for information.
- Send in a signed renewal form either online at YourTexasBenefits.com or by mail.
If you don’t take the action needed by the due date listed on your Renewal Letter, your benefits may end.
Keep Your Health Care Coverage
It’s important that you renew your health care coverage by your renewal date provided by HHSC. You can begin the renewal process online and make sure your contact information is up to date at YourTexasBenefits.com.
Once you submit your renewal, HHSC will review your information to make sure that you are still eligible for Medicaid/CHIP.
