HHSC will transition certain COVID-19 flexibilities related to teleservices to interim guidance in line with House Bill (H.B.) 4 (87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019) that becomes effective in FFS beginning February 1, 2022.
HHSC also created a website for providers outlining the implementation plan and timeline for HB 4, as well as opportunities for stakeholder input. HB 4 requires HHSC to allow more services to be delivered using telemedicine, telehealth, and audio-only methods on a permanent basis after the PHE ends if clinically appropriate and cost effective.
