FAQs
Do I need a referral to see a behavioral health provider?
No, Community First does not require a referral from your primary care provider for behavioral health services. However, some behavioral health providers may ask for a referral as part of their processes or procedures.
Are medications covered under my health plan?
Yes, prescription medications are covered under your plan. You can find a list of covered drugs on the Community First Member Portal.
Can I change my behavioral health provider?
Yes, you can change your provider at any time.
Do I have a copay for my therapy or psychiatrist visit?
Community First STAR, STAR Kids, and STAR+PLUS Members do not have a copay for behavioral health visits. If you have a different health plan, you may have a copay or coinsurance. You can find this information in your plan’s Member Handbook or plan documents.
What behavioral health services do I qualify for?
Your therapist, psychiatrist, or main doctor can help you decide what behavioral health services will work best for you. Some services and treatment options may require prior authorization and are reviewed based on medical necessity.
Are virtual behavioral visits covered?
Many behavioral health providers offer virtual or telehealth services. Community First covers these visits the same as an in-person visit.
