The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15 through December 7. During this time, eligible Medicare beneficiaries can review their coverage options and select a new health plan for 2027.
Providers may receive questions from patients about their Medicare coverage or plan options during Open Enrollment, specifically dual eligible patients (patients who have both Medicaid (STAR+PLUS) and Medicare) who live in Bexar County.
Beginning January 1, 2027, Medicare and Medicaid coverage for eligible Bexar County Members will transition to a Fully Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (FIDE SNP) model that coordinates benefits through a single health plan organization, making it easier to access and manage care.
Community First Medicare Advantage Bexar Dual (HMO D-SNP) is a FIDE plan available to eligible Bexar County residents who have both Medicare and Medicaid.
Dual eligible Members in Bexar County who do not choose an integrated plan during Open Enrollment may be transitioned into their Medicare carrier’s integrated plan option.
