IMPORTANT: If you receive a yellow envelope from Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) with a renewal form or request for information and you do not respond in the time period provided, you will lose Medicaid/CHIP.
If this has happened to you or your child and you believe you still qualify, you have 90 days to re-apply without experiencing a gap in coverage.
How to re-apply:
- Return your renewal form or requested information to HHSC within 90 days of the last day of the last benefit month your coverage ended.
- If you do not have a renewal packet or if you’re unsure what information HHSC needs, visit YourTexasBenefits.com and click “Apply” to start a new application. The renewal link will not be active during the 90-day reconsideration period.
- You can also call 2-1-1 and select option 2 to re-apply over the phone.
- If you need help, we can assist you in English or Spanish. Request an appointment at our Avenida Guadalupe Community Office to get help. We can also connect you with in-home assistance.
